Events and Marketing Coordinator
Job Title: Events and Marketing Coordinator
Location: Brierfield and Tannehill Historic Ironworks State Parks, Alabama

Reports To: Park Superintendent or Deputy Superintendent
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary Range: $35,000 – $59,000
Position Summary:
The Events Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing private events (weddings, conferences, family events), public events (educational programs, festivals, market days), and community activities at Brierfield and Tannehill Historic Ironworks State Parks. This role enhances visitor engagement, promotes the parks’ cultural and historical significance, and supports partnerships with local organizations and vendors.
Key Responsibilities:
Event Planning & Execution
- Coordinate logistics for festivals, educational workshops, seasonal celebrations, and other events.
- Manage event calendars and ensure timely communication with stakeholders.
- Secure permits, schedule venues, arrange staffing, and coordinate vendors.
- Ensure events reflect the parks’ mission and serve diverse audiences.
Community Engagement & Promotion
- Build partnerships with schools, civic groups, historical societies, and tourism organizations.
- Promote events through digital marketing, social media, press releases, and community outreach.
- Maintain event listings on websites and local calendars.
On-Site Event Management
- Serve as the primary contact during events to ensure smooth operations and guest satisfaction.
- Supervise and train event staff and volunteers.
- Monitor safety, accessibility, and compliance during events.
- Administrative Support
- Prepare and manage event budgets and track expenses.
- Maintain records of event outcomes, vendor contacts, and community partnerships.
- Assist with grant writing and sponsorship proposals related to programming.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Event Planning, Parks & Recreation, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2–3 years of experience in event planning or public programming.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Familiarity with historic site programming or outdoor event logistics preferred.
- Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Canva, or similar creative software.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug test.
Work Schedule:
- Full-time position with variable hours based on event schedules and seasonal needs.
Work Location:
- In-person at Tannehill and Brierfield Historic Ironworks State Parks.
- Some travel is required for educational, civic, and tourism-related events.

Summary
Tannehill Historic Ironworks State Park is hiring a Retail Operations Manager to lead and coordinate retail and visitor service operations across five key areas of the park. This position is ideal for a motivated professional with experience in retail, food service, and team supervision. The manager will play a central role in enhancing the guest experience, maintaining operational efficiency, and supporting the park’s mission of preserving history and promoting public engagement.
Position Overview
The Retail Operations Manager oversees daily operations at the entrance gate, creamery, general store, peanut shack, and train station. This role ensures smooth staffing, effective inventory control, exceptional customer service, and compliance with safety and food handling standards.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Supervise and schedule staff across all retail and visitor service areas.
- Manage inventory, merchandising, and food safety compliance.
- Ensure excellent customer service and a welcoming environment for park guests.
- Monitor revenue, reconcile cash drawers, and support budgeting and procurement.
- Coordinate with other departments for special events and seasonal promotions.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 2–3 years of experience in retail, food service, or visitor services.
- Supervisory experience strongly preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.

Full-Time Office Assistant

Schedule: Full-Time (Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm, some weekends)

Position Summary
Tannehill Historic Ironworks State Park is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Full-Time Office Assistant to support daily park operations. This position will provide clerical, administrative, and visitor service support to ensure smooth and efficient office management.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and assist park visitors, answer phones, and respond to inquiries.
- Process reservations for facilities, events, and campground bookings.
- Maintain accurate records, files, and reports.
- Assist with cash handling, ticket sales, and daily reconciliation.
- Support marketing and outreach efforts, including social media updates.
- Prepare correspondence, forms, and documents as assigned.
- Provide administrative support to park staff, including scheduling and communications.
- Assisting with special events, programs, and weekend activities is mandatory.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework preferred.
- Prior clerical, customer service, or administrative experience preferred.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic office equipment.

Position Summary:
The Gate Attendant serves as the primary point of contact for park visitors, providing a welcoming experience while managing entry procedures, collecting fees, and offering basic information services. This role is crucial in maintaining park security, ensuring accurate visitor records, and fostering positive guest interactions.
Key Responsibilities:
Visitor Entry & Fee Collection
- Greet all incoming guests with courtesy and professionalism.
- Collect entrance fees, issue receipts, and provide park passes or wristbands as needed.
- Operate point-of-sale systems and maintain accurate cash and transaction records.
Information & Assistance
- Provide visitors with maps, brochures, and basic information about park amenities, rules, and events.
- Answer questions and direct guests to cabins, campsites, trails, and facilities.
Safety & Monitoring
- Monitor traffic flow and ensure only authorized vehicles enter restricted areas.
- Report suspicious activity, emergencies, or safety concerns to park management.
- Assist with crowd control during busy weekends and special events.
Recordkeeping & Communication
- Maintain daily logs of visitor counts, transactions, and incidents.
- Communicate effectively with park staff regarding guest needs or operational issues.
Facility Upkeep
- Keep the gatehouse clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies.
- Ensure signage and entry materials are visible and up to date.
Qualifications:

- Previous customer service or cashier experience is a plus.
- Ability to operate basic computer systems and handle cash accurately.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work outdoors and remain alert during long shifts.
